Program Introduction （项目介绍）

Buckeye Union Mandarin Immersion Charter School is an innovative Chinese immersion program offering students the opportunity to develop bilingualism and biliteracy through a rigorous academic program. Students gain mastery of Chinese reading, writing (Simplified Characters), Mandarin listening, and speaking through the whole class, small group, and individual learning opportunities. Students are evaluated based on the ACTFL Proficiency Benchmarks. Our Mandarin teachers are native Mandarin speakers.  All of our teachers have their California Teaching Credentials as well as their Biliteracy Teaching Credentials for Mandarin. For New Families （新入学家庭）  

Thank you for your interest in our school and Mandarin Immersion program. To ensure student success, all incoming students enrolling in Kindergarten (after the Christmas break) and 1st Grade or above must pass an entry evaluation. Students must demonstrate proficiency in Mandarin comparable to their peers in Chinese reading, writing (Simplified Characters), listening, and speaking.

• Content: During the evaluation, your child will first engage in a Mandarin conversation with a teacher, aligned with grade-level expectations. They will also read a grade-appropriate passage and answer comprehension questions. Lastly, your child will be required to complete a writing task, which may involve multiple sentences, a paragraph, or multiple paragraphs, depending on their grade level.

• Resource: I encourage you to review practice tests and assess your child’s current Mandarin proficiency. Additionally, our school website offers valuable information, including program orientation materials and academic expectations.

• Evaluation Scheduling: The entry evaluation for the next school year will take place in late May/early June. Please schedule an appointment by early May. If you want to transfer during the school year, please email me, and I will arrange a testing session.

感谢您对我们学校及中文沉浸式项目的关注！为了确保学生的学习成功，所有（圣诞假期后入学的）幼儿园以及一年级及以上年级的新生必须通过入学测试。学生需在中文阅读、写作（简体字）、听力和口语方面具备相应的年级水平，以确保能够顺利融入课堂学习。

• 考试内容: 在考试过程中，您的孩子将首先与教师进行一段中文对话。随后，孩子需要阅读一篇符合年级水平的文章并回答关于文本的问题。最后，孩子需完成写作，写作内容可能包括多句表达、段落写作或多段写作，具体要求将依据年级水平而定。

• 学习资源：我建议您自行通过模拟考试评估孩子目前的中文能力。此外，我们的学校网站也包含有用的资源，包括项目介绍等信息。

• 预约测试：下学年的入学测试将统一在五月末或六月初进行。请在五月初提前预约。如您申请在本学年入学，请发送电子邮件与我联系，我将为您安排具体评估时间。
